Inheritor Rank - 20 million credits?
If you've noticed, the Halo: Reach credits (cR) required for the Inheritor rank is 20,000,000. It takes over a million cR just to reach Colonel Grade 2. So where do all these credits come from? Once commendations are maxed out, should you just run campaign or matchmaking until the end of time? Let's take a look at the numbers...

For the purpose of simplicity, cR earned from commendations and challenges will be omitted. We'll use Team Slayer as an example. If a player averages 1,500 cR per game, it would take 714 games to reach Colonel Grade 2 (1,070,000 cR) and a whopping 13,334 games to reach Inheritor. Just at a conservative estimate of 5 minutes per game that's 59.5 and 1,111 hours respectively. Just looking at the difference between 714 games versus 13,334 games indicates something is awry.
Bungie has the max rank set at Lt. Colonel Grade 3 right now. While your cR bar won't increase, you're still earning cR for games played right now that will be applied when the rank freeze / cap is lifted. So why freeze the rank right now?
You're never going to get to Inheritor under the current scoring system. How long did you play before you got a 3 digit slot machine versus a 2 digit slot machine at the end of a MM game? The 3 digit slot machine doesn't happen often now and usually gives less than 300 cR, but there seems to be more to it.
It's likely that Bungie will implement a different scoring system for higher ranks. For example, once you reach Commander, you always get a 3 digit slot machine with chances of getting a 4 digit slot machine. And it could be possible that you get more cR per game from medals and such since you're a higher rank.
Bungie didn't put Inheritor out there just to tease everyone with something literally impossible. Granted only the hardcore will likely achieve it, but surely a player will have to increase their cR per game as their ranks increases. Maybe not per individual rank, but at certain rank benchmarks.
Is it possible for the system to recongnize a higher rank and increase the cR awarded for each daily/weekly challenge? That doens't seem feasible, but it is possible. The odds point towards higher cR per MM game and an increased slot machine payout. Or at least that's what a lot of players are hoping for. A lot of questions should be answered when the rank cap lifts. Once it does, we'll follow-up this opinion.
