Halo: Reach Rank Freeze Lifted
Bungie has lifted the rank freeze / cap on Halo: Reach. According to Bungie, there are no more caps in place. You can rank up and earn armor all the way to Inheritor if you want. But how do you make it to 20milcR at 1KcR at a time?
Upon logging in and starting Reach matchmaking last night, my rank was at Commander Grade 3, so I knew the freeze was over. After about 15 games of MP Slayer, I switched over to Campaign to just goof around and work on some commendations. Upon finishing Campaign, a Halo: Reach message popped up that said the freeze was over and to be sure to complete matchmaking games to have a chance at a "jackpot".
Not the typical slot, but a "jackpot". Since the message came up after I had played all of my MM games, maybe today I'll get some jackpots. There were no jackpots last night and only two three-digit slots, two of which yielded 1?? cR.
The 20milcR Inheritor rank is a long ways away, so Bungie is going to have to provide some type of cR booster to help players get there. Unless they do something soon (like a double cR weekend or higher cR payouts for higher ranks) then players are going to give up trying to reach a rank that looks impossible.
Update: Played some MM last night (Nov 3) and still no "jackpot". If anyone has some insight on this mysterious phenomenon, post a comment and let everyone know what you've experienced.
